In its half century of existence, the Foundation for Medical Research has contributed to significant advances in research and medical science. It places emphasis on identifying new research needs and promoting the exchange of knowledge in areas where innovation is emerging.

The programme baptised "Jumelage FRM - Fondation BNP Paribas" is providing support for a period of three years to the functioning of seven laboratories that have received assistance from the FRM under the "Implantation d'une Nouvelle Equipe - INE" (New Team Creation) scheme. This assistance encourages the development of "young saplings" by recompensing the manager of a new team that has demonstrated entrepreneurial talent.
